Straight Track
In general I will use Tillig Pilz
Elite track for the straight track as well as for the turnouts. Tillig Pilz Elite is code 83
blackened track. The distance between the ties will be increased on the
secondary tracks compared to the main line track.
Turnouts/Switch machines
The turnouts will be from Tillig
Pilz Elite also. No. 4 turnouts are for such a small layout with
short rolling stock satisfying. Larger and therefore better looking or
more prototypical turnouts would increase the layout size tremendous!
The turnouts are decribed in Model Railroader ??? and are European
Style not American Style.
Uncouplers
On the main line on the left side of the left turnout and on the right
side of the right turnout two Kadee #308 magnetic uncouplers will be
installed just under the track. They will be completely hidden. With
these two uncouplers I can reach nearly every track with a uncoupled
cars.
For the track which is hidden in the stret (bottom right) another
uncoupler will be foreseen just after the bottom turnout. It will be a
Kadee #312or #321. The installation between the rails is not a problem
because it can be hidden by the stret also.
The magnetic uncouplers imply that the freight cars locomotives have
Kadee's installed.
For a introduction inmagnetic uncoupling refer to the Kadee homepage and/or to the Model
Railroder, Juli 2003, p.46ff.
